SM Makati: Wearable Wednesday

My most memorable Halloween costume ever was a lobster costume way back when I was about 5? I didn’t know what I was thinking then, choosing a lobster costume over something girly, but I looked like I had fun in my photos anyway.

I don’t have a lot of recent Halloween memories, to be honest. Coincidentally, I’ve been out of the country every October 31st for the past couple of years. Definitely missed out on a lot of Halloween parties. Nonetheless, it’s always fun to see how other countries wear costumes and go trick-or-treating. I’ll be in Korea this Halloween, and I’m hoping I can share some good pictures then.

Last year, I was in New York! As expected, there were a lot of people dressed up as sexy nurses, sexy policewomen, sexy superheroes… err, sexy everything-you-can-think-of. I *did* see a very cool guy in a Spiderman costume, doing all sorts of parkour stuff in the middle of Times Square. And some bloody zombies scaring people on the sidewalk.

Sadly, I wasn’t able to see a lot of outfits that could be worn outside the costume/Halloween context. It would be such a shame to just wear costumes once a year, especially if you’re on a tight budget.

This is where my makeshift Wednesday Addams-inspired outfit comes in! It’s not her exact costume, but it’s better than nothing!

What’s even better about this outfit is that I can easily wear these items together or separately on a normal day.

Braids? Check. Crisp white collar? Check. Black stockings and doll shoes? Check!

Wednesday wears a black dress, but if you don’t have one, but you already have an existing black top and a black skirt in your closet, why not? Similarly, if you have a black dress with no collar, you can just wear a collared top under it to mimic the effect.

The more you improvise, the better. It also puts a more personal spin on your chosen character’s outfit. As long as you have the key elements anyway, people will be able to guess which character you took inspiration from.

The make-up I have on here is to demonstrate how wearable this look can be even if it’s not Halloween. If you want to go full Wednesday, paint your face a ghastly white!

I’ll stop wearing black when they invent a darker color.

Let me know if any one of you guys decides to go as Wednesday too!
