There are two Museum der Modernes in Salzburg – the older one is the Rupertinum in Old Town Salzburg (Alstadt), while the newer one that I went to can be found on top of Mönchsberg mountain. I wanted to hit two birds with one stone by going to the mountain museum because there were so many good reviews about the city view from Museum der Moderne Mönchsberg.
- There’s an elevator that can easily take you up the mountain, but I heard you can also go up on foot if you’re up for a challenge.
- The view did not disappoint!
- A clear view of Hohensalzburg Castle sitting atop the Festungsberg hill.
- The hills are aliiiive!
- It was a good idea to wear these colors in Salzburg!
- MdM’s winter exhibition featured influential artist, choreographer, performer, and writer Carolee Schneemann.
- As expected, photography was only limited to the common areas so I wasn’t able to take much during my visit.
- Modern art lovers would enjoy this structure.
- Not part of the exhibit! An actual waiting area for the museum guests.
- Flea market outside the museum.
