Los Angeles: Abbot Kinney

Intelligentsia! Oh how I've missed you.

This is going to be a picture-heavy post about my new favorite place in LA. You’ve been warned! Prepare for extra-enthusiastic captions because Abbot Kinney is all kinds of amazing. Like, how did I spend all my previous trips to LA without coming here?!

Sure, Abbot Kinney Boulevard is another one of those hipster neighborhoods I always gush about, but the LA flavor is strong in this one. While there are always similarities among these neighborhoods, Abbot Kinney is at the extreme end of the boho, beachy, laid-back spectrum when it comes to the level of artsy-fartsyness. I guess it’s similar to Bali’s Seminyak, except the selections of stores here are more diverse. I never thought I’d be the type to fall in love with LA, given my SFO bias, but I’ve been mistaken all along. LA is suddenly extra fascinating because of all the new places I went to during this trip.

Took me about 20 minutes to get to Abbot Kinney from UCLA. I met up with my friend Anna who happened to be in LA too! She was staying at Manhattan Beach, so Abbot Kinney was the perfect compromise, distance-wise. Turned out to be the best decision we’ve ever made.
