Last Monday, Lacoste celebrate its 80th anniversary in Manila with a unique brand experience roadshow slash art-fashion-photography exhibit. I rarely attend parties, but count me in if there’s going to be art and eye candy!
The roadshow was only on display last January 10-14, but it’s already going to be the last day tomorrow (the 16th) at the Shangri-la Plaza’s East Wing Atrium. I’m crossing my fingers that these photos will inspire you to check it out before it’s totally gone.
The concept includes three cubes/areas filled with both moving and still images and objects, from the brand archives dating back to the invention of the polo shirt and founding of the brand in 1933 by tennis champion René Lacoste.
Here is what it looked like from above.
Visions and Expressions’ Ginggay dela Merced and Stores Specialists Inc.‘s Malu Francisco rocking their own Lacoste polo shirts! I particularly love how they chose bold, bright colors that match their personalities!
I also wore gray but Martha pulled off a much sexier concept!
Hosts Bianca Valerio, Tessa Prieto Valdes and David Celdran each introduced the three cubes as if they were touring us around an art gallery!
The hosts got first dibs on the new Peter Saville x Lacoste collection which was also launched on the same night inside the store… which is supposed to be the first Agora concept store in Manila.
With fellow personal style blogger Robbie Becroft who put a more rugged, outdoorsy feel to his classic polo.
As usual, I went the super simple, comfortable and minimalist route.
In the first cube was a carefully curated collection of Lacoste and Lacoste Live polos over the years.
Clever crocodile placement.
The second cube is my favorite cube. The Crocodile Room features the various shapes and sizes, colors and contexts that the iconic crocodile logo has adopted and adapted to through the years.
Crocodilus phantasia, y so kawaii
Obsessed with this gold crocodile.
Yummy muted colors.
Along the walls is a timeline highlighting the important dates and milestones in the brand history.
The third cube features images from the brand archives. This includes René Lacoste and photos from his time, past Lacoste campaigns…
…and these interesting sketches put beside images of runway models wearing Lacoste.
Would wear this dress in a heartbeat!
Anyhow, I’m not going to post everything here to avoid giving too much of the roadshow away, so please check it out on its last day tomorrow, especially if you’re in the area!
