GAP’s current campaign “Dress Normal” celebrates individual style, and calls us to be confident in who we are by dressing how we’re most comfortable. “Normal” could mean differently for each person, but for me, dressing normally means putting myself in classic pieces that I can wear not just once, but repeatedly throughout the course of my life. And this is exactly why I never underestimate basics. Not only are they A+ in comfort, but you can wear them over and over again without people noticing too much.
A number of people have asked me how to dress up a “boring” simple tee + jeans combination. Before anything else, I think “boring” is a state of mind! You can’t pull anything off if from the start, you’re already lacking enthusiasm and interest. Instead, you should turn your mindset around for the better, and start seeing your definition of “normal” as a good thing! It all really boils down to how you carry yourself everyday. Nothing speaks louder than quiet confidence.
