I’ve never been this excited for an H&M designer collaboration before!
When news came out that H&M was releasing a collection with Canadian-born, London-based designer Erdem Moralioglu, I already knew it was going to be a dream. I’ve always been in love with Erdem’s signature florals (as much as I love all floral prints!), and a collaboration with H&M meant that the whole collection would be available in Manila at a more affordable price point than his usual pieces.
Baz Luhrmann, director of films like Moulin Rouge and The Great Gatsby, shot a short film entitled “The Secret Life Of Flowers” for ERDEM x H&M. I was so obsessed with it that I watched it everyday since it came out. I enjoy fashion films a lot because I like seeing clothes in context, with a creative story.
I was slowly anticipating the VIP shopping night when I got a message from the local H&M team, asking me if they could dress me up for the event as one of their muses. With no hesitation, I went straight to their office, and got a first look at the whole collection before everybody else. We settled on this blouse and skirt print-on-print combination that ended up blending seamlessly with the beautiful set-up at the event. I admit going crazy with the picture-taking against the styled backdrop because it reminded me so much of Roccoco (one of my favorite artistic movements). RG wore an ERDEM x H&M shirt with the same pattern as my top (matchy-matchy!), and a gray wool blazer that has proven itself to be a great addition to his closet. He loved it so much, he wore it for meetings for 3 consecutive days.
Since it was my first time at a timed shopping event (10 minutes per batch with a total of 7 batches, with 5 minutes in between each batch to replenish stocks), I was easily overwhelmed with how fast everyone else was moving. I was pretty sure that RG and I moved twice as slow! At least we were able to score the pieces that we’ve been eyeing from the start, like all the scarves. Discovery of the year? My shopping habits are still far from hoarder-level, haha.
Anyhow, below are photos from the event. The collection is currently available in SM Makati.
