Tutorial: Pixy “Tokyo Kawaii” Look

image

It’s never too late for a pink make-up tutorial! This look is inspired by what I call “Japan’s perpetual spring”. From what I’ve noticed through the years, Japanese girls love wearing pink and florals all year round! Kawaii never stops! Even in winter, when they can normally get away with bold lip colors and dark eyeshadow, they still prefer donning light and cutesy make-up that enhances their natural beauty.

Pixy, a Japanese-formulated and Indonesian-manufactured cosmetics line, calls this look the “Tokyo Kawaii” look.

Pixy has finally arrived in the Philippines, and I’m so happy that their products have been tailored to fit different Filipina skin tones. This is not the first time that I’ve heard of a Japanese company customizing their products specifically for the Filipino market! They are really dedicated to sharing the kawaii lifestyle all over the world. Thank you Mandom (of Gatsby, Lucido-L, and Bifesta fame) for all the love!

There is absolutely no excuse for anyone not to get on the kawaii bandwagon now! Get Pixy-fied with this simple make-up tutorial:

Step 1-2: Apply the light pink eyeshadow from the Pixy Romantic Poem 01 Eyeshadow Palette onto your lids and lower lids.

Step 3-4: Use the darker pink eyeshadow from the same palette (Pixy Romantic Poem 01) to draw a thick line across your lids as well as on your lower lids. Blend for a more 3D effect.

Step 5: Line your eyes with Pixy Perfect Eyeliner in Black. Wing it to elongate your eyes and make them appear bigger.

(You know how some eyeliners just aren’t black enough that they end up looking like a faded dark gray after some time? Pixy’s eyeliner is probably one of the most black eyeliners I’ve ever tried in my life! Obsessed with this product! Been using it everyday since I got it.)

Step 6-7: Brush Pixy Waterproof Mascara in Black from the roots of your lashes, wiggling upwards. Don’t forget your lower lashes for that extra volumizing effect.

Step 8: Apply natural-looking falsies! You can skip this step if you’re already blessed with long and thick lashes.

Japanese beauty is all about the eyes! Just look at this before and after photo, and notice the huge difference.

Thanks to Pixy for making the “Tokyo Kawaii” eye make-up look so much easier to recreate now!

Step 9: Swipe on Pixy Silky Fit Lipstick in 302 Puppy Love Satin for the sweetest smile. I love how this lipstick keeps your lips moisturized! No to chapped lips.

If you think this particular pink isn’t for you, Pixy lipsticks come other yummy colors too!

Top row (matte): Rouge Tango, Peach Delicacy, Pink Smoothie, Be in Love, Earthy Beige (my mom loves this!), Nudy Kiss

Bottom row: (satin) Puppy Love, Rosy Pink, Autumn Apricot, Pinkish Peach, (semi-matte) Cinnamon Twist, Misaki, Haruka

Step 10: Apply Pixy Blush On in Passion Roses 04 on the apples of your cheeks to create a natural flush.

Step 11: Pat the Pixy UV Whitening Perfect Fit Two-Way Cake all over your face for seamless, flawless coverage. I’m using the Natural Beige shade. You can opt to use this as it is, or as a finishing powder to set and somewhat matte-ify your liquid foundation/BB cream (like I did).

My favorite part about this product? It’s SPF15!

Ta-dah! Pixy “Tokyo Kawaii” make-up look achieved!

I find this look ideal for a lunch or dinner date. The pink shades are so easy to match with all the dainty floral dresses in my closet.

(“motekei” vibe – tbh my boyfriend loves this kind of make-up compared to dark, smokey eyes and bold lip colors.)

It’s also great as an everyday make-up look! You can achieve that “my lips but better” effect by swapping your favorite girly pink lipstick with Silky Fit Lipstick in 507 Autumn Apricot Satin.

You can even pull this make-up look off at casual business meetings. Seize the day with Silky Fit Lipstick in 216 Pinkish Peach Satin. :)
