The hills are alive in Salzburg, but if there’s only one hill you should visit, it’s definitely Festungsberg hill where the Hohensalzburg Fortress sits. It’s got 900 years of history behind it, and is known to be Europe’s biggest complete fortress.
The cable railyway to the fortress only takes about a minute, and operates from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
