My interview with Calyxta is out, and I’m so excited that I get to finally talk about this without spoiling anyone! Every so often, online store-slash-magazine Calyxta comes out with cover stories that feature a local personality or two (in the case of siblings). Given the level of their previous cover girls, it’s such an honor to be featured. I mean, I think I still have a long way to go in terms of proving myself to the world!
When they told me they wanted to do a ’60s/’70s inspired theme with the editorial, I was ecstatic! I can’t remember the last time I did a shoot like this, since my recent ones have all been quite commercial-looking with predictable hair and make-up. Last night, I tweeted that I finally got over my creative block after 3-4 years on photography hiatus, and I feel like this shoot (and cropping/editing these behind-the-scenes photos from my camera to make them pass off as part of the shoot even when they’re not) contributed a lot to sparking inspiration. If you’re new to my blog, I used to produce a lot of shoots circa my slumberdoll on deviantART days, and I find myself slowly opening myself up to the idea of photographing again. Baby steps! The only thing that’s frustrating me now is that it couldn’t happen at a busier time.
Anyhow, you’d wonder why I’m suddenly wearing wedding-inspired dresses in the last few photos – Calyxta just launched their new BRIDES tab, and I just happen to be their first cover girl. It says on the website, “Brides by Calyxta is every bride-to-be’s one-stop resource for bridal beauty care. We have information on wedding and honeymoon preparations and services, insights from beauty and wedding experts and inspiration from stories from real brides.” Basically, just what I need. I still have so much to do in terms of our wedding (Ahh, I’m stressing out!), and it’s always convenient to find online articles that aim to help anxious brides-to-be like me! Thanks Calyxta!
